Dear Idaho Youth Soccer Members,

The Idaho Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) has received reports that adults have verbally abused and made discriminatory remarks toward children participating in our programs. This behavior is reprehensible and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

IYSA’s Mission is to empower Idaho’s youth through soccer, partnering with our members to provide experiences rooted in education, growth, and respect. Our Vision calls us to unite the soccer community in a spirit of inclusion, safety, and excellence. Abuse and discrimination undermine everything our game stands for.

We want to be clear: any form of abuse—verbal, emotional, or physical—will not be tolerated. Every player deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, in a safe and supportive environment.

IYSA, in partnership with U.S. Youth Soccer (USYS), is committed to addressing this issue directly. Individuals found guilty of abusive or discriminatory behavior will face sanctions, and Clubs that fail to address such conduct may face disciplinary action, including potential suspension.

IYSA and U.S. Youth Soccer (USYS) have provided all Clubs with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy and educational materials. These resources are intended to help Clubs and their Members foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for every player. We encourage all Members to participate in these educational efforts and support your Club’s implementation of these initiatives.

Together, we must uphold the IYSA values of Community, Respect, Safety, and Accountability—ensuring that every child feels welcome and protected in our soccer community.

Thank you for joining IYSA and USYS in standing up for our players and preserving the integrity of the game we love.

Sincerely,

Kevin Ireland

Executive Director

Idaho Youth Soccer Association
