ODP Kicks Off
The 2011-2012 ODP season has officially arrived. The younger three age groups (birth years 1998, 1999 or 2000) held their first training sessions on Sunday at Brother's Park in Caldwell.
"We had a great turnout, both in term of numbers and in terms of quality," said IYSA Asst. Director of Coaching Skyler Bell. "I was extremely impressed with what the players were able to do, and I think it looks like Idaho ODP is going to have a great year."
Last season Idaho placed 11 players into the Regional Pool, at least 3 on Regional Teams, and at least 1 in the National Pool.
"The top players in Idaho can compete with anyone in the country," Bell said. "And as we continue to raise the overall level of play from top to bottom in the state we will continue to see the number of Regional Pool players steadily increase."
Bell attributed a lot of the success to the great coaches throughout Idaho, including those in the ODP Program.
"Our staff this year is pretty incredible. ODP is getting a great amount of support from all the clubs in the state, and you can see it in the coaches who are on staff this year. It's a very strong group."
The next training session for this age group will be at the District level on Oct. 2. The older three ages (1995, 1996, 1997) will kick off on Oct. 30. Please see the ODP section of this site fore more details.
